Katrien Barnard, a 13-year old girl from Cape Town had been struggling with eczema since she was a baby. The skin condition would cause severely dry, scaly patches that lead to irritation, redness and itching. The extreme itching resulted in lots of scratching, which often caused scarring. "It impacted me both physically and emotionally. I was always shy because of the scars," describes Katrien.
